Sea bathing water quality - Croatia

good EU Directive

Directive 2006/7/EC of the European parlament and of the Council concerning the management of bathing water quality and repealing Directive 76/160/EEC defines the monitoring and classification of bathing water quality, the management of bathing water quality and the provision of information to the public on bathing water quality. The purpose of this Directive is to preserve, protect and improve the quality of the environment and to protect human health. Directive is applied to any element of surface water where the competent authority expects a large number of people to bathe and has not imposed a permanent bathing prohibition.Bathing water clasification standards are prescribed by this Directive 2006/7/EC.
The final assessment is not based only on the number of microorganisms (number of grown colonies) but also upon the measure of the dispersion of results within the data set. However, the higher the dispersion of results, the higher is the unpredictability of the bathing water quality status, that is, there is a higher possibility of future samples not meeting the prescribed limit values. The bathing water quality assessment combines the actual status of bathing water quality (number of microorganisms) and the potential risk of pollution (dispersion of results).

good CRO Regulation

Final assessments of bathing water quality are determined based on the results of bathing water quality monitoring (Regulation -- Official Gazette 73/08). The final assessment is determined after the end of each monitoring season, based on sample analysis for that particular bathing season and previous 3 seasons. Standards for bathing water quality assessment at the end of the bathing season are prescribed by the Regulation.

After the notification on Sudden pollution, the sea water quality exsamination was carried out on 27.06. 09:05 and was determined that the sea bathing water quality is: good. For the confirmation of the results additional sampling are performed.

unexpected sea pollution at the beaches, when legal person authorised for sea quality monitoring, immediately upon receiving the notification on pollution, carry out sampling of the sea water and additional sampling until the end of the pollution.
